Email Signature for Accountants
Clients email their accountant about money, deadlines and documents, often anxiously. Your signature should answer the three questions those emails raise: who exactly are you, how do I reach you quickly, and where do I upload the thing.
What a accountant's signature should include
- Your professional body and status: ACA, ACCA, CPA, ICAEW firm number. It differentiates you from unregulated bookkeepers.
- A link to your secure document portal, labelled plainly ("Upload documents securely") so clients stop emailing PDFs.
- Deadline-season office hours if they change.
- Your MTD/e-filing credentials where relevant to reassure business clients.
What to leave out
- Tax advice disclaimers longer than the email, one line linking to your engagement terms does the job.
- Comic Sans. It has happened.
