Email Signature for Financial Advisors

Financial advice is one of the most regulated things you can put in an email, and your signature is part of that communication. Compliance teams review signatures for good reason, build yours so it passes first time.

What a financial advisor's signature should include

  • Your name and role exactly as authorised, with the firm's regulated legal name (not just the trading name).
  • Regulatory status line your compliance team approves, e.g. authorisation reference and regulator.
  • The firm's registered office where your jurisdiction requires it on business correspondence.
  • A short risk or informational-purposes line where your firm mandates one, as one muted line, not a wall.

What to leave out

  • Performance claims of any kind, including in taglines.
  • Personal social links your compliance policy hasn't cleared.
  • Anything your compliance team hasn't seen. Genuinely.
