Email Signature for Nurses
Nursing email spans handovers, families, education providers and admin. The signature's job is precision about who you are and where you work, clinical settings depend on that specificity.
What a nurse's signature should include
- Your registration (e.g. NMC PIN in the UK) and role band or title.
- Ward/unit and site, hospitals are big; "Ward 11B, City General" saves real time.
- The unit's contact number, not a personal one.
- Your working days if part of a rotation, so replies aren't expected on off days.
What to leave out
- Patient-identifying anything, obviously, but also unit in-jokes; signatures leak into official correspondence.
- Personal contact details of any kind.
